The Arctic Monkeys are Awesome!
I had a great night out seeing British rock pop band 'Arctic Monkeys' sold out show at Metropolis Concert Club. All along the walk through Northbridge people kept asking us if we were going to the show and if we had any extra tickets we would like to sell (no chance). The club was packed out, but the good thing about Metropolis is it has around 5 different levels and lots of staircases, so everyone is fairly near the band.
The support band were Brisbane band 'The Grates', there has been lots of positive press about this band and they have been proclaimed as some sort of uber geek cool, but I don't see what the fuss is about, they seemed quite boring to me. Beyond the JJJ friendly song '19,20,20' nothing seem to stand out to me. Maybe they are better on CD than live in action. Lead singer Patience had some quite amusing uncoordinated dance moves and some very naff ribon twirling moves.
The Arctic Monkeys however rocked the house, ripping through the catchy tunes from their debut album and some of the well known B-sides. I really wanted to listen to the album when I got home but it is in my office, where it has been played a great deal this year.
