As part of the Awesome festival there is a sandcastle exhibition in the Cultural Centre, Northbridge, which will be demolished on Sunday.

Anyone Hear Ringing?
Does anyone remember that when they built the Swan Bell Tower that it was claimed the bells could be heard for several kilometers?
Does anyone remember that when they built the Swan Bell Tower that it was claimed the bells could be heard for several kilometers?
It's hard hearing the things from only a few hundred meters.
Still, it's very photogenic.

That’s why churches with bells are built on hills. Somehow that escaped the notice of the designers.

So what’s the theory then - the sound of the bells is lost across the river???

I live in South Perth and I can tell you I’ve never heard the Swan Bells on the southern side of the river. In fact it has to be a very quiet Sunday to hear them at the Town Hall on Barrack St.
