Wrong way ambulance
At a quarter to three on Tuesday morning, our daughter came into our bedroom suffering an attack of croup.
\"I can't breathe\" was about as much as she could manage to say.
My wife and daughter went in an ambulance to Princess Margaret Hospital.
The most direct route from where we live is a ten-minute trip via Underwood Avenue, Hay Street and Roberts Road.
So why did they go via Alfred Road, Stubbs Terrace, Aberdare Road, and somehow onto Bagot Road before going across Subiaco to Roberts Road?
It's not the sort of thing you have time to ask about when it's actually happening. Luckily for us, those extra minutes did not mean the difference between life and death. But we do wonder why it happened and can't help thinking \"What if...?\"
Maybe there's an explanation. I'll check comments and see what Perth Norg readers think.

Same thing happened to us - our son was concussed and vomitting and the ambo took an hour to arrive. When they finally did, it took 40 minutes for a 20 minute journey. I complained to the Dept of Health review when I got sent the bill and digged in. Stick to your guns.

Assuming that PMH was the destination, the route taken sounds similar to one I used to make in peak hour traffic. Not the right choice at 3am, though! I wouldn’t expect paramedics to know the road network like a local… a good reason for satellite navigation to be installed!
