Wikipedia beat the news sites

About an hour ago I turned on the car radio to ABC Local Radio and heard about Steve Irwin. This presenter of the program said that when she first heard the story, she went to Wikipedia to do some research and someone had already updated it with the news of his death.

Just goes to show how quickly news - true or otherwise - can get around these days.

Sure, Wikipedia was updating pretty quickly, but it didn’t beat the news sites: it was on news.com.au prior to it making Wikipedia…the real disgrace in this story though was smh.com.au…way slow in their coverage.
