PerthNorg contributor's Irwin photo picked up on Wiki

It was just a family holiday snap that Richard Giles uploaded to his Flickr page.

But when news of Steve Irwin's death became known Richard put it on PerthNorg, saying he was lucky to have witnessed the Crocodile Hunter's show in person. But as news of Irwin's death spread the story got bigger and someone placed Richard's pic on Wikipedia where it has remained the main picture since the story broke.

Richard puts most of his photos on the internet under a creative commons licence, so that people are free to use it with attribution.

Since the picture was placed on Wiki the photo has attracted about one view a minute.
