World Bank Launches Plan to Help Women

The World Bank on Saturday launched a four-year plan to promote greater economic opportunities for women in developing countries. The $24.5 million initiative will fund new World Bank efforts to further gender equality in areas of development that traditionally have not addressed women's empowerment, the Washington-based institution said. The announcement came as officials from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund held their annual meetings in Singapore.
