Vizard 'misled' bank, says lawyer
Westpac fell for lies from businessman Steve Vizard about his former bookkeeper Roy Hilliard "hook, line and sinker'', a judge has been told. Peter Hayes, QC, for Hilliard, said Vizard had misled the Supreme Court and had told deliberate untruths in describing his professional relationship with Hilliard. Roy Hilliard is being sued for $3 million by the bank as it tries to recoup money it reimbursed Mr Vizard, who claims Mr Hilliard siphoned the money from his accounts using unauthorised cheques. Describing Vizard variously as a ``humbug'', "dissembler'' and "someone who told a blatant lie'', Mr Hayes said Westpac's $3 million damages action against Hilliard depended largely on Vizard's credibility.
