Murdoch raid boosts Fairfax

Shares in John Fairfax Holdings soared as much as 37 cents, or nearly 8 per cent this morning after Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation confirmed its "friendly" acquisition of 7.5 per cent of the company in a stunning $360 million off-market raid last night.
