What makes Gary Lyon think that the West Australian will print a story without all the proven facts?Some factual information wasn’t released until Thursday,what came out previously was nothing more than innuendo,if the media threw enough mud they were hoping something would stick.

There would have to be some risk of defamation without any established facts. But I think the reasons are more likely the ones Lyons points out.
It is more likely the case The West did not want to damage their relationshiop with The Eagles. Why they didn’t break the story is beyond me. It just exposes the flaws in being a one newspaper city.

I believe your not giving The West enough credit Bronwen.The public are sick to death of hearing about the Eagles,or reading about them.It’s been acknowleged Ben has problems now it’s no one elses business,he & his family need privacy to work out his problems.The media are like a dog with a bone,it’s time they showed some respect & left the Cousins family in peace. I’m disgusted the way the media have hounded the family showing no consideration at all.As for Mr Lyons he needs to realise that the Eagles aren’t the only AFL team,how many others have had positive drug readings.
