Funny or Die - Will Ferrel's contribution to internet videos

You thought Will Ferrel was just a pretty face didn't you? Apparently not.

Will Ferrell and his production company business partner Adam McKay have just taken an investment from esteemed venture capital firm Sequoia Capital to launch a new comedy video site - Funny or Die.

According to the site's About page: \"Funny or Die is the collaborative effort of people in Silicon Valley and in Hollywood to create a venue for accomplished as well as aspiring comics to try out new ideas, experiment and generally have fun. It is expermental and a work in progress and will most likely evolve to meet the needs of its performers and their audiences.\"

The first video posted to the new site - which features Will Ferrel himself and a very sweet, but foul-mouthed Pearl - has already been viewed more than 2 million times.

The site will also accept user-generated comedy videos. Popular clips that are voted on enough times to be seen as funny \"will eventually be elevated to \"Immortal\" status where they will remain and not require further voting\". Clips that aren’t funny are sent to “die” and are moved to the sites \"crypt\". But you still have a chance of resurrection if 10,000 people or more think you are funny - sure these numbers might change depending on how the site grows.

The sites initial popularity may be the Ferrel appeal, but only time will tell. So far the signs looks good ... and funny.
