Intolerable Cruelty

If anyone was unfortunate enough to see the news at 5pm tonight on 10, you will no doubt have been confronted with horrific images of an adult male kangaroo, with a collar around it's neck, being dragged down a suburban street behind a ranger's vehicle.

There was an incident in the NT where an Aboriginal bloke was dragged behind a police car all the way back to the station and then they had to take him to hospital for skin grafts, if I recall correctly nothing happened to those officers either.

I thought the RSPCA would be a good bet.

Sounds like these guys are utter morons - absolute dickheads and their actions must be condemed.

But the death penalty? I think that is a bit much - and in reply to Liz - dragging a roo behind a ute is a bit different than dragging a person isn’t it?

I obviously agree the death penalty is a bit much - I was just so inscensed by the story and got carried away! I can’t believe nothing happened to the guys who dragged the man behind the police car either! Is it that the blue uniform makes them above the law? And in response to ianspence I would have thought the animal welfare groups would have put the pressure on a lot more than they did to ensure those responsible got what they deserved! I was a bit dissapointed by them to be honest.

I think there should be some punishment for this - but let it fit the crime. Perhaps some time spent volunteering at an animal welfare agency?
I don’t know the facts of the case, but it sounds like the actions of the police were more ignorant than malicious. What is really highlights to me is the caliber of police officers we have! If they can’t figure out how to resolve a basic problem, then what sort of outcome will there be when they are placed in serious situation.
