East Perth recommended for new footy stadium
The Langoulant stadium task force submits its report to Government this week, and will be recommending land next to the old East Perth power station (rather than Burswood or Subiaco) as the site for a new $800m, 60 000 seat convertible stadium.

Knowledge? Bah, it’s equal parts blind guessing and parroting what I find on government web sites
East Perth is a decent choice — neither the best option nor the worst. I’d like to have seen a Melbourne-style stadium precinct across the river at Burswood, but the taskforce apparently have concerns about muddy building foundations or something.
This site is next to the old power station which is frontrunner for the WA Museum’s new home (now there’s another drawn-out saga), and it’d certainly be different to put our main stadium and main museum next door. There’s a good chance it’ll create opportunities for a riverside entertainment precinct — but that was going to happen anyway, because the site already had redevelopment plans.
