This morning many with gather at Christ Church Grammar School chapel in Claremont to mourn the passing of WA sporting icon Chris Mainwaring.

Over 2000 people are expected to turn out this morning, despite the poor weather. The chapel seats 900 with the forecourt outside the chapel having a cover erected and a screen being brought in to allow those outside to watch the service.

A guard of honour will be formed by past and present West Coast Eagles.

The service starts at 11am this morning at the Christ Church Grammar School chapel in Queenslea Drive, Claremont. Parking is expected to be difficult due to the train shut-down on the Fremantle line.

The service is being shown live on Channel 7 around the Metropolitan area with GWN taking it to the rest of the state.
