Freo pick up something new, old and borrowed
Fremantle have fulfilled their pre draft wish of picking up the best West Australian talent by selecting Rhys Palmer with their choice at seven. Rhys Palmer stands tall at 183cm and was born on the 13th February 1989 . He has been drafted from the exceptional youth program at East Fremantle Football Club where he was the Fairest & Best Runner-Up 13's-17's. He was an All Australian in the under 17's national competition.
At pick number 24, Fremantle went for a quick midfielder in North Ballarat's Clayton Hinkley. Hinkley starred at the AFL Draft Camp where he finished 2nd in the 20m Sprints, 3rd in the Agility test and 4th in the Beep Test.
Pick 40 was used to take Chris Mayne who is another West Australian playing for Perth Football Club, starring as a half forward.
The Essendon connection continued with Fremantle suprise pick of premiership player Mark Johnson. What was not a surprise was Mark Harvey's choice of former number 6 selection, Keppler Bradley. He is tall, quick and agile and is a versatile player who has been training with the Dockers. Former Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy has lambasted his former club for letting the star junior go to Fremantle for no trade.
