Heath Ledger's grieving family under seige
A media frenzy exists around the Ledger family home, despite repeated requests for them to be able to grieve in private.
This is the scene in the street where Heath Ledger's mother lives. The media has been camped outside the house now for three days. The street has been blocked off so local residents cannot drive down it unimpeded, and media cars surround the neighbourhood, many illegally parked.
Every car that drives into the street is photographed by the waiting mob, every pedestrian scrutinized. Any activity at the house is marked by a flurry of flashes and frenzied activity amongst the gathered mob. The front door of the house cannot be used for access due to the intense scrutiny of the waiting cameras.
The poor family.

There is other way to describe this than “pathetic”.
No wonder MSM has such a bad name.

If a famous person dies - have your tributes on TV, let us know how they died then leave the family to grieve in peace. I’m sure these vultures would love a media circus outside their house when a loved one passes away.

Articles appearing in Australian media here and here seem to suggest that it is the family’s fault that they are being hounded, despite repeated pleas for privacy. Please…

Perhaps I’d feel a little more sympathetic if they hadn’t found time to fly across the US to media ***** themselves all over LA at a “star studded memorial service”.
Heath Ledger was a public figure, and gained a considerable fortune and other benefits through that fame. But yes, the family are entitled to private grief.
But if they’d simply had the good grace to say “we’d like a couple of weeks in private, then you’re welcome to attend a memorial at Guildford Grammar” [who offered to arrange the whole thing] then perhaps the media might back off, knowing they’d get pictures etc then.
Surely his fans in Perth are entitled to their memorial service? Or are there not enough celebs here to make it worth their while?
