Search giant Google has teamed with Transperth to launch its public transport mapping package, Google Transit, in Perth this year – the program’s first release in the Southern Hemisphere.

Enter start and end points for a desired journey and Google Transit will display a route map with departure points and trip times for the public transport services on each leg of the journey. The application can help plan trips weeks in advance.

I realised just how handy this will be when I tried to figure out a route from south of the river to Ardross this morning - bring it on.

Also a thought, I wonder if Google Transit might also show up some *cough* flaws in the current public transport system. But then there’s the question of what Transperth would actually do about it.

public transport in perth, what public transport?? If you are lucky enough to live within walking distance of a train all good otherwise forget it
