Today at REMIX 08, ABC Commercial previewed its new media player, which is the first major commercial project in Australia to be developed with Microsoft’s Silverlight platform.

Downloaded content can be copied to other computers a set number of times, but will not play on iPods or other portable storage devices due to its high bit rate.

Makes it pretty useless to me!

iPod’s are ok for watching YouTube and music videos, but I couldn’t see myself watching 1 hour + videos on my iPod Touch…too uncomfortable! I think ABC’s player is aimed more at watching on a laptop, desktop computer or a TV through a media centre setup.

Really … I know lots of people who are watching full length movies on their iPod Touch - there is definately a market for it.

True, just not me However, there’s already iTunes, youTube, etc that cater for the iPod Touch. Once Australia actually catches up and starts offering tv/movies through iTunes, that will be covered and those users will get their content there rather than through the ABC’s direct service one would think.
