Mobile roaming charges too high - report
AUSTRALIANS are paying too much to use their mobile phones overseas, a KPMG report into international mobile roaming said.
International roaming lets mobile phone users use their phones overseas by connecting to local networks.
The report, commissioned by the Federal Government, says mobile phone users and industry regulators believe the price of international roaming is inconsistent and excessive.
It found that roaming rates vary significantly between mobile phone companies.
For Australians travelling to China, the price of international roaming can vary by 100 per cent depending on which mobile phone company they use.
Rates from the same company can also vary between countries.
