Telstra-Hutch deal could rattle Optus
TELSTRA has launched the latest offensive against its main rival Optus by allowing No 4 mobile player Hutchison to use its Next G network in areas where the smaller company does not own a network, in a deal worth more than $120 million year.
The news came as Hutchison unveiled a half-year loss of $85 million with strong revenue growth of 24 per cent and customer numbers that are expected to surge past 2 million by the end of the year.

I have recently moved from 3 to Optus, a few reasons, I am moving back to Perth this week and was concerned about 3’s coverage, mainly due to the fact that the iPhone is very reliant on data and did not want to get charged for roaming, which happened a fair amount even in inner city Melbourne. Also their customer service is non existant. Dont get me wrong for prices and deals they cannot be beaten, but I guess this comes at a price.I am now happy with Optus and I have to say I think I will stick with them for the foreseeable future

3 have pretty good coverage in Perth as far as I have noticed in my roamings, and this is just going to make it even better when heading down south.
