Change of Government, Changes nothing in Hospitals
The recent change of government has seen no change in the violence occuring in our Emergency Departments or attitudes of the Health Department Heirachy towards staff being assaulted.
Publically, of course all of our politicians are firm in their statements against violence against hospital staff, however in one of our busy Emergency Departments there has been 13 assaults of either Nursing, Medical or Orderly staff and 1 visitor of another patient.
The attitude of the Department in relation to 1 of the people responsible for 4 of these aggressive and violent attacks after the third incident was "there is no need to report this anymore, we know but there is nothing we can do at the moment due to staffing issues", 24 hours later the fourth attack occured.
Congratulations to our Helath Depertment for their caring and compassionate efforts to make the staff actually treating the patients feel valued and respected
