The Wheel of Perth is turning heads
Perth's new Ferris wheel is nearly complete.
The 50m structure named "The Wheel of Perth" will be open in the 1st week of January 2009 and promises to bring Western Australia tens of dollars worth of extra tourism dollars.

Agreed the wheel might add 10 -20 dollars to the economy, seriously who would come all the way here just for the Wheel???????????????? or is it just another premiers chance to immortalise his stupidity next to Dicks tower?? Ooops it is one of his friends building this one isn’t it??

After watching 50 years of environmental vandalism coupled with 50 years of total neglect on Perth’s foreshore, is this all we get? Other than a totally ridiculous bell tower and a Conference Centre which looks more like a giant Kewdale factory than anything else? Is this all we get to grace what is without doubt, the second most beautiful waterway in Australia?
The levels of mediocrity shown by one government after the next along with a City Council and town planners seemingly as ‘rabbits in headlights’, all leave me bewildered, astonished and downright embarrassed by what I see. The only flicker of light I see amongst the acres of burnt grass, sand dune on-ramps, bitumen tracks and roads, is a rail station. But sadly its a 500 metre trudge across an unused dry paddock to get to this side show and or a ferry.
I simply cannot believe that any other city in the world would so badly neglect such an asset, let alone perform intermittent acts of vandalism against it over the years. But then again a city which has allowed itself to be gutted of what charm, warmth, vibrancy and beauty it once had, must now reap what it has sown. The soul has long gone and I certainly don’t ever expect to see its return in my lifetime. I’m embarrassed and I’m sadened and I’m also ashamed.

I kinda like, it will give a good view of the area and all the way to the hills on a clear day. The only thing i don’t like is that it looks like a poma lift. They break down.
