Big Day Out has a home -confirmed at Showgrounds

Just in from the BDO promoters:

Perth Big Day Out organisers can confirm that this year’s event has been granted approval by the WA Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC), and will take place as planned at the Claremont Showgrounds on February 1.

The DEC and the Minister for Environment have granted the approval under regulation 18 of the noise regulations, with the limits of music being emitted from the event being the same as those that were approved for last year’s event, paving the way for the event to continue at its Claremont home.

Local promoter Ken Knight said: It is nice to have this issue behind us, and we appreciate the support of the current Western Australian Government recognising the cultural significance of the event.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the BIG DAY OUT on Sunday February 1st at Claremont Showground. Please remember to bring your hats and sunscreen and have a great Big Day Out.

OH YES! Well, it wasn’t really in danger, but the initial report about the Showgrounds application and the council providing stupid reasons for the rejection was really uncalled for.
